The Aqua Man are enemies in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. They resemble short humanoid creatures wearing a diving suit.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong (Game Boy)[edit]

They first appear in Stage 3-3. Aqua Man just walk around horizontally, changing direction once they encounter a platform's bounds or a wall, and if Mario runs into them, he will lose a life. He can hop on them and hitch a ride as the creatures stroll. To defeat an Aqua Man, it has to be heaved and thrown at another enemy; alternatively, it can be crushed with a hammer.

Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]

In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, Aqua Man play two different roles in the Donkey Kong adaptation.

While appearing in the enemy list of Super Mario: Donkey Kong 1, in the main story it appears in chapter 1 of Super Mario: Donkey Kong 2, as a normal diving suit Donkey Kong forces Mario to wear to check what is blocking the Ship. He gets attacked by a giant Gessori and gets coiled by its tentacles. During this attack, Kakkoii Mario and cuts off the tentacles holding Pauline and Mario, but when Luigi goes to check the diving suit, he notices it is empty, as Mario emerges from the water, further supporting the theory that he may have been Kakkoii Mario in disguise.

In chapter 3, an actual Aqua Man is seen helping the Kongs fight the Kremling Krew, until DK and Donkey Kong Snr. are knocked out, causing the Kong army to retreat after the defeat of their leaders.
